St. Aegidi, Österreich - A radiant star in the sky of the languages is the 16-year-old Leni Mangold from Bundesgymnasium Schärding . She took the impressive second place at this year's federal finals of the Spanish foreign language competition in Vienna. This achievement follows her victory in the state competition in Linz, a great double for the talented student. The competition took place in the Instituto Cervantes and brought together nine participants.
The challenge was not only of linguistic skills, but also of the ability to convincingly appear in group discussions and a role -playing game. Leni showed her high linguistic competence, eloquence and her flow of liquids, which not only impressed the jury, but also her Spanish teacher Regina Hasibeder , which she prepared for the competition with great commitment.
The way to the top position
Leni has prepared comprehensive for the competitions. Apart from regular lessons, she heard podcasts, spoken and self -studied Spanish in her free time Spanish to deepen her knowledge. These efforts carried fruit, and for Leni the effort was worth it. "Languages are doors to the world," she says - a motto that she not only gives for herself, but also as a valuable tip for other students.
As part of the preliminary round, the participants discussed the future of the world of work and presented their opinions in Spanish in groups of three. In the final, one -on -one discussions were on the program, in which the participants were asked directly by a moderator as director. Leni was particularly remembered by the friendly atmosphere at the federal final, which also prevailed at the award ceremony in the Spanish embassy.

In recognition of her excellent performance, Leni can look forward to several prizes: a week language course in Málaga, a flight ticket, 200 euros and a DELE diploma scholarship. This scholarship is open to all Open Doors students who are characterized by their achievements. EF offers language courses worldwide and will give Leni the opportunity to further deepen her Spanish. In summer she plans to travel to Málaga with her sister and complete her language course there.
Leni not only show brilliant results in Spanish, but also in Latin. She was active in the federal competition in Latin in Bregenz and sees what has been learned in both languages as a valuable basis for her future. Your goal is a medical studies and a semester in a Spanish -speaking country to master the language even better.
