On Sunday, June 1st, the Landescheid Forst of the Landjugend 2025 took place in the picturesque Reichenau in the Mühlviertel in the Mühlviertel. In addition to Pretzl's success, Christoph Fischer from the St. Marienkirchen rural youth took third place and drew attention to himself with his victory in the "Entasten" discipline. A great result for Upper Austria: Both representatives qualified for the Federal Forest Resource, which will take place in August. The women were also strongly represented, and Margit Hohenbichler from the Landjugend Vorderstoder was able to win the title for women again.

The competition in detail

The state decision consisted of a total of eight varied disciplines that required both physical fitness and manual skills. The participants: Interior had to prove themselves in tasks such as the Fallkkerb and felling cut, combination cut and cutting-edge cutting. In order to meet the requirements, complete protective equipment was essential, as was the necessary know-how in occupational safety and first aid. The efficiency and precision with which the young forest talents approached the tasks testify to a high level of training that continuously promotes rural youth.

The team ranking also brought exciting results. The rural youth district of Schärding achieved a strong second place, the team landed just behind Welsland, which won first place. This shows that the young people work together strongly in forestry.

The state decision for forest is just one of many competitions that the rural youth organized in the course of the year. For example, the state forest competition of the Landjugend Salzburg took place on March 15, 2025 in Bergheim, where David Schitter won his fourth title in the "Over 20 years" category. Here, too, the participants demonstrated: on the inside impressively their skills in wooden trade. Young talents in every federal state have the opportunity to measure themselves in different categories and refine their skills. These competitions are not only a platform for talented young people, but also promote the sense of community among the rural youth members and strengthen social interaction among the participants: inside.

At events like this it becomes clear how important practical skills and theoretical knowledge are in modern agriculture. Not only is practical experience in dealing with chainsaws, but also an awareness of the security standards that prevail in forestry.
