Kematens Skitalent Pia Höpperger thrilled with outstanding performances!
The young ski racer Pia Höpperger from Kematen showed impressive performances this season and established itself as a talented young racing driver. The 11-year-old, who starts for the Ski Racing Team Neuhofen, managed to achieve shiny results both in the Upper Austria Kids Cup and in the Pyhrn-Priel-Kremstal Cup. As part of the overall award ceremony of the Upper Austria Kids Cup on May 17th, she was honored for her excellent second place, which underlines the continuous progress that she has made since she switched to the ski agent school in Windischgarsten in autumn. In this context, her chief coach Wolfgang Röhrer emphasizes how much school support has contributed to its sporting development, which is reflected in the good placements in the young races of the past winter season.
What else distinguishes this season? In addition to second place in the Upper Austria Kids Cup, Pia also triumphed in the Pyhrn-Priel-Kremstal-Cup, where she was able to book the overall victory for herself. Parents Petra and Dieter Höpperger are proud of the progress of their daughter and the confirmation of their skills on the slopes. Pia's success story is a wonderful example of how youthful talents can be encouraged and where the necessary support is available to achieve their goals.
pioneering event for the youngsters
As part of the children's national championships on February 26 and 27, 2022, there were also exciting competitions at the Wurzeralm, as reported. There, the athlete Rosa Bauer had to give up in the giant slalom, but achieved the best time in the second round and thus secured victory in her age group. The event also offered a platform to show the athletes of the future, and the good organization was praised by the participants and spectators.
Another highlight for the young athletes was the SKS Bike Marathon on May 2nd, 2023, where over 1000 mountain bikers started despite drizzle and muddy conditions. The event, such as the Sauerlandkurier, offered distances from 30 km to 100 km, whereby the 100 km race with over 2500 altitude meters challenged. The perfect backdrop and the extensive supporting program, including a children's ferris wheel and a bungee trampoline, made the event an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
Overall, the season for young athletes in the region draws positive balance - be it on the skis or the mountain bike. Both sports show that young talents are encouraged and their achievements are recognized, also thanks to their support from their families, schools and trainers.
