Panician climber saved on the dragon wall!
A 24-year-old Czech tourist was on Wednesday afternoon in an alpine emergency on the via ferrata to the dragon wall in Upper Austria. The young man suffered a attack of panic on the suspension bridge and was therefore unable to continue the via ferrata and get off. According to the information from Kurier he set an emergency call, since the height and the exposure of the suspension bridge hunted him.
The mountain rescue Mondseeland was quickly alerted and immediately moved out to help the climber in need. This had started his tour on May 29 at 3 p.m., his path led him over a via ferrata that is classified with the difficulty level of C/D.
rescue under difficult conditions
Several emergency services from the Mondseeland mountain rescue entered the man on footpaths. The crew of a police helicopter, supported by the dragonfly, initially tried a thaw. Due to adverse weather conditions, in particular strong wind and a ripening front, this attempt had to be canceled. Finally, the mountain riders managed to bring the 24-year-old up to the rope. He was then brought into the valley with a vehicle via the forest road. Around ten mountain rescuers and an alpine policeman of the Alpine Operational Group Gmunden were involved.
The dragon wall is not the only place in the Alps where climbers are in trouble. There are currently reports of several rescue campaigns, including a dramatic rescue of two climbers from a height of 2400 meters on the Dachstein, in which the Ramsau mountain rescue was also involved. These missions illustrate the dangers that lurk in the mountains and the challenges with which the rescue workers are confronted with, such as Merkur reported.
frequent missions and challenges for mountain rescuers
In the past few weeks there have been numerous reports of accidents and rescue operations in the mountains. On May 26, for example, a hiking group in the Wilder Kaiser was in mountainous and had to be saved. Tragically, there was also a fatal mountain accident in Valais on the same day, in which five ski tourers lost their lives. The increase in operations shows how important it is that mountaineers always pay attention to the conditions and prepare well, such as Alpin Notes.
The incidents in the Alps make it clear that unforeseen situations can occur quickly and that the ability to self -confidence often reaches its limits in demanding areas. Therefore, the importance of mountain rescue is essential to help people in emergencies quickly and safely.
