30 years pastorensteig: an anniversary full of nature and community!

Kirchdorf an der Krems, Österreich - The annual hike via the pastorensteig, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary, has in the summer program of the Naturfreunde Steyrling/Klaus established. The path that was originally launched to secure the route shows how committed citizens have defended and cultivate the climb over the years.

In the 1990s, the pastor's stall was controversial, and there was a risk of decommissioning. In 1994 the topic of securing the road in Steyrling was omnipresent. In order to continue to be tangible, he was laid in 1994 to lead the game feeding and to guide the hikers directly to the base source, which the municipality of Klaus supplies with drinking water. This reallocation turned out to be crucial for the sustainability of the climb.

an integral part of the summer program

1995 the idea arose to carry out the first officially advertised Bertl hike. On September 15, 1996, 22 participants made a pilgrimage to the pastor stew. A remarkable event took place on April 27, 2003 when the climb was included in the European hiking trail marking. This consolidated its status as a tourist attraction and contributed to putting the region more into the spotlight.

The participation of 73 enthusiastic hikers on September 17, 2006 was another highlight and showed the lively interest in the hike. Even during the Corona pandemic 2020, nature lovers did not miss the opportunity to produce a "Nikolaus video" on the pastor stall, which led to the awareness of the path beyond municipal and district borders.

The success of the pastor stew would not have been possible without the active support of the hiking officers, chairpersons, property owners and of course the many fellow hikers.
