On June 4, 2025, a 43-year-old hiker from Germany experienced a painful fall during her mountain tour. She was traveling on the Naturfreunde-Steig to the summit of the 1691-meter-high Traunstein and had taken a break in the early afternoon before she wanted to return to the valley over the Mairalm-Steig. But the accident occurred around 2:20 p.m. when she kinked at the so -called "Bründl" and could no longer descend. Fortunately, subsequent mountaineers noticed their need and alerted the mountain rescue service Gmunden via the emergency call 140.

The rescue workers were quickly on hand. An emergency helicopter was sent to the scene of the accident and the emergency services ensured that the injured person was safely recovered.
