Grieskirchner accordionists conquer silver at the World Music Festival!

In spring 2025, Innsbruck invited to the "14th World Music Festival", which was organized by the German Harmonika Association and became a real highlight for music lovers. This year, impressive 3,000 accordion players from 160 orchestras, ensembles and bands took part. Musicians from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Holland, Denmark, Estonia, Poland and China showed their skills on an international stage. The successful project orchestra was headed by experienced musicians such as Dagmar Malli, Roman Prüller and Edith Pauzenberger. The performance of the "Big Apple Suite" and the jazz standards "Take the A Train" was particularly impressive. The event took place between May 29 and June 1st and was visited by around 160 orchestras and ensembles from all over the world. The festival included various competitions in different categories, which included both solo players as well as ensembles and orchestras. Music lovers were able to look forward to a varied program that spoke to the whole family. On the opening evening, May 29, there was a "Tyrolean evening". It continued on May 30th with "accordion in the square", in which the Hohner accordion orchestra Reilingen and the Federal Accordion Orchestra performed. The conclusion took place on June 1, when the competition results were announced.

A special novelty this year was the "Harmonica Day", which took place for the first time in parallel to the festival and was organized by the Harmonika Association of Austria. This combination of the festival and harmony day underlines the versatile culture around the accordion and the harmonica world. The registration deadline had already expired for the participants, but the event remains an important platform in any case to share and celebrate the joy of music.
