Bookstore Neugebauer conquers a new location on the JKU!

Braunau am Inn, Österreich - A new era in bookstores begins at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz. After the traditional bookshop of Neugebauer at the Taubenmarkt in the summer of 2024, which was in operation for almost 90 years, a newly designed bookstore on the campus now opens its doors. Managing Director Kevin Coder emphasizes that it is a bookstore at the university, not a typical university bookstore. The new location on the ground floor of the library building promises to become a place to browse and discover for the approximately 25,000 students and 4,000 employees of the JKU, which will find a variety of books and office articles, as wko.at.

The range is wide and ranges from specialist literature in different fields of study to fiction, non-fiction, children's and youth books to English-language literature and travel guides. Games and original gift ideas are also part of the offer. The bookstore has set itself the goal of making books accessible to everyone and creating an inviting atmosphere in which reading is celebrated.

a fresh wind

In the course of the transition, there were some challenges, but they were mastered with a young and dynamic team. This team continues the tradition of the Neugebauer bookstore and at the same time dares new approaches to meet the needs of the university readers: to meet inside. Above all, the planned highlights, such as a retro corner with antiquarian books, cause a stir. The new concept is also valued by the high -ranking university representatives. Rector Stefan Koch emphasizes the importance of the bookstore to support the learning and working on the JKU, while Vice Rector Alexander Freiklager praises the innovative orientation, as on jku.at can be read.

The bookstore is open from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., even during the holiday season. So she remains a constantly available contact point for thirsty for knowledge and book lovers.

market development in the background

Statista.com , net turnover in the book retail trade in Germany becomes clear again and again. The fiction group of goods in particular holds the largest share of sales, followed by the popular children's and youth books. The e-commerce sector is growing continuously and is now the most growing sales channel.

The reopening of a bookstore on the JKU campus is not only a win for the university itself, but also a sign that there is still the need for reading and the need for physical bookstores. With a fresh concept and a genuine passion for books, the team of Neugebauer wants to open a new chapter - and visitors are invited to become part of this story.
