School sports seal of approval: Zwettler schools shine with awards!

Zwettl, Österreich - On June 8, 2025, the Lower Austria School Sports Trophy was awarded, and two winners from the Zwettl district proudly show their successes. The Bhak Zwettl and the NMS Schweiggers were awarded for their exemplary commitment in school sports. This honor is part of an extensive program that is devoted to the concern to reward schools that are particularly committed to movement and sport and to secure the quality of school sports. The ceremonial handover of the documents and trophies took place in a festive framework in the state parliamentary session in Sankt Pölten, such as education-noe.gv.at reported.

In a total of 83 schools in Lower Austria received the school sports seal of approval, including 24 elementary schools and various middle schools. This award takes place in the stages bronze, silver and gold, whereby the Federal Ministry of Education gives the documents. Another exciting program item of the day was the attendance of the students of the VS Friedersbach in the Zwettl city office. There, registrar Barbara Haider explained the tasks of the community and carried out an entertaining “trial wedding” in the registry office. The children had the opportunity to slip into the role of the mayor and mayor, represented by Pia Holnsteiner and Lilian Schabauer. Already afterwards there was a tour of the city office, led by Mayor Franz Mold and Vice Mayor Alexander Leutgeb, and the event was completed with a city tour of Elisabeth Moll.

In Großglobnitz, a workshop entitled "Adventure I" for the 4th school level was carried out. Sex teacher Paula Fichtinger dealt with topics such as body awareness, gender images and setting boundaries. Such offers contribute to raising awareness of important social issues and the students: to support the inside on their way to adult life.

In the course of the Lower Austria School Sports seal of approval, several schools and teachers were also awarded that have been particularly excellent. Maria Eckl from NMS Ottenschlag received the Bo teacher award for her outstanding achievements in career orientation. In addition, students have successfully completed a financial driver's license on the inside of the Zwettl polytechnic school, a course that imparts important knowledge of dealing with money and thus makes a valuable contribution to financial education.

A special initiative that also affects the school community in the Waldviertel is a school model that was launched by four economic academies. With a focus on e-business, health management, logistics and food, hybrid lessons are offered, which includes both presence and online learning. In this context, there is also a research project with the University of Krems, which the pupils: actively integrates into the world of science inside.

The associations and organizations not only bring sport to schools, but also set a variety of incentives to creatively demand students. A painting competition with the topic "Real Digital" at the elementary schools Friedersbach and Großglobnitz enabled children to express their creative ideas, while the prices were presented by banking manager Sabine Steininger.

Overall, the numerous activities and awards show that in the schools in the Zwettl district, there is a strong awareness of the importance of sport and exercise.
