Climate schools celebrate success: creative projects for our environment!
Ottenschlag, Österreich - On May 27, 2025, the center of Ottenschlag was filled with hustle and bustle when the final party of the successful climate school project of the clear! Waldviertler Kernland took place. Around 250 people, including parents, students and community representatives, came together to celebrate the results of a school year full of creative projects. The event, which dealt with the topics of climate change adaptation and biodiversity, offered a platform for young talents and showed how important environmental education is for youth.
The colorful program included creative performances by students from the Albrechtsberg, Martinsberg and Ottenschlag secondary school also included a appearance by the cabaret artist HP Arzberger, who made the guests laugh with his entertaining program. Project manager Elisabeth Höbartner-Gußl emphasized the commitment of the youth in environmental issues and was pleased with the high number of participants, which showed that the topic of climate change has also arrived in the region.
diverse offers for sustainability
The festival was an impressive review of the events of the school year, which were funded by the climate and energy fund. In addition to the artistic achievements, a resource flea market and the hiking exhibition “Klima and I” were also presented. These invited the visitors to deal intensively with a sustainable lifestyle. It turns out that awareness of environmental and nature conservation should be strengthened in the region.
But not just that clear! Waldviertler Kernland relies on such projects. Another essential part of the climate change adaptation in Austria is the structure of climate -fittings cultures and the promotion of biodiversity. The initiative, which is also noticeable in the Joglland region, relies on information transfer and advice to anchor the topics of sustainability and changes in climate change in the population. The focus is particularly on the forest ecosystem, since the region has many forest areas and these are threatened by weather extremes and pests such as the bark beetle.
collaboration for the forest
A central element of the measures is the information evenings and forest inspections that are organized in cooperation with experts and forest owners. This is about deepening the knowledge of forest care and cultural changes and better understanding the challenges that forest owners are facing. The exchange between forest owners, experts and hunters is a great success to tackle the care of the forests together.
The school projects for adapting climate change play a crucial role in bringing children and adolescents closer to the importance of biodiversity. A varied mix of measures from lectures, forest pedagogy and practical experiences gives the students an understanding of the topics of the environment and nature that goes beyond everyday school life.
Overall, the final party and the continuous work of the clear! Projects such as integration of environmental awareness into everyday life and active participation of youth play a crucial role in the fight against climate change. The path is still long, but the first steps are taken. Thanks to initiatives like this, it becomes clear that the future of nature, which is close to our heart, is a bit secured.
