Vernissage of the artist Hedda Pflagner: Discover experiences and photographs!

Wien, Österreich - Hedda Pflagner, an author and photo artist born in Vienna in 1953, introduces her latest works. On July 16, the vernissage of its exhibition "Sand im Gear" and the book presentation of its newly published book "Lebensplitter" will take place in the Cafe Club International in Vienna. The book published by Pohlmann-Verlag contains autobiographical stories about your childhood, your job, everyday life, fantasies and dreams and impressively addresses your own family history in the context of the 20th century. Meinverkirk reports that…

The exhibition itself, which will be shown by August 10, 2025, shows Pflagner’s abstract photographs that put a strong focus on the psyche and human action. The photographs are mainly taken by spontaneous recordings on the coasts of Fuerteventura, where sand and lava stem mixtures are recorded. The "Oil on Water" series also shows the documentary side of its art by capturing environmental sins such as oil carpets in the sea. Their third series includes photographs of tree bark and annual rings in which vague faces appear.

artistic diversity and commitment

Pflagner looks back on a long career in which she worked as a social worker and psychotherapist in an educational advice center for over 40 years. Her cultural roots are very pronounced because she is the daughter of a cultural journalist and an amateur photographer. Her commitment in the art scene showed her work as an chairwoman of the "FotoKreis-Eisenstadt" from 2009 to 2021, whereby she was responsible for organizing the club. After her retirement, she lives again in Eisenstadt and is now increasingly devoting herself to her personal interests in photography and literature, as Galeriestudio38 describes.

The works by Hedda Pflagner are not only artistically valuable, but also permeated with a social message. Your photographic topics show a clear preference for abstract, nature, landscape, architecture and street photography and are strongly inspired by your travels, especially through your preferred islands of Ischia and Fuerteventura.

challenges for women in art

The exhibition by Hedda Pflagner is not only a personal performance, but also a sign of the long -lasting struggle of artists in an art scene dominated by men. Studies show that art history often shows the underrepresentation of women. According to an analysis, art is often less observed by women, and access to academic art education was restricted until the 20th century. Although Pflagner makes a valuable contribution to art with its exhibition and its writings, the topic of equality in art remains relevant, as Ars Mundi shows.

With her commitment and art, Hedda Pflagner contributes to increasing the visibility of artists and continuing the discourses on equality in art. Your work is an important step towards a fairer and fairer art world.
