On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the historical association City of Neunkirchen invites those interested in history to an exciting journey of discovery. The aim of the excursion is the interesting school museum in Ottweiler, which presents an extensive history of 1000 years of school development. The journey takes place in a comfortable bus that runs at the upper market in Neunkirchen at 3:00 p.m. The return is planned at 6:00 p.m.
Participation in this educational excursion costs 8 euros, while club members can take part for only 6 euros. Registrations are possible in the office of the historical association until July 25, 2025 - so nimble action is required!

The school museum in Ottweiler is not only known for its countless exhibits, which document the school history from ancient Rome to modern times. It is also a hands -on museum in which visitors can try out various learning methods and devices. Hans-Heinrich Rödle, the board member and former mayor of Ottweiler, brought the project to bloom together with Professor Horst Schiffler in the 1980s and 1990s. The official opening took place in March 1993 in a historic building from 1800 that used to serve as a girls' household school.
The thematic tour of the various premises is particularly impressive, including a typical school from 1850. The Saarland School Museum not only offers a foray through school history, but also unique exhibits. The highlights include historical school utensils such as slate boards, stuff boxes and fibulae. There are also valuable collectors that go back to the 16th century. Technical innovations are also presented at school, including the oldest petroleum projector from the 1890s. Currently there is even a special exhibition entitled "Right Masters - Left Masine", which deals with girls' formation and old handicraft techniques.
