Four Melker schools awarded: Future of career orientation secured!

The educational landscape in the Melk district can be happy: Four schools have recently been awarded for their excellent performance in the field of education and professional orientation lessons (BBO). The NÖMS Krummnussbaum, Nöms Mank, Nöms Hürm and Nöms Pöchlarn impressively show how pupils can be successfully prepared for starting the professional world inside. The BBO seal of approval aims to increase the quality of professional orientation and to make the diversity of teaching opportunities in Lower Austria visible. As meinzirk.at reports a total of 55 schools, including 46 medium and 6 polytechnic schools and 2 general special schools and 1 Ahs lower level.

Wolfgang Ecker, President of the Chamber of Commerce Lower Austria, hits the nail on the head with his statement: "The school -based professional orientation is an important building block to counteract the increasing shortage of skilled workers." The importance of training with regard to the recognition of strengths and interests of the young people cannot be assessed highly enough. The better the students are informed about professions and educational paths, the higher the chances of winning qualified employees: to win inside.

The challenge of the shortage of skilled workers

The current situation on the labor market clearly shows that there is a shortage of skilled workers in many areas. In health professions as well as in information and telecommunications technology, the demand for well-trained workers has risen sharply, while the offer decreases in craft and technical professions. This is a consequence of demographic change and the departure of birth -strong vintages. The bpb.de notes that a significant gap between supply and demand could arise in the next few years, especially since more and more young people without a professional qualification are pushing to the labor market.

The effects are alarming: In 2022, around 2.9 million young adults without a formal professional qualification in Germany were the highest value in 25 years. Such high numbers increase the risk of long -term unemployment, especially for people with a migration background, in whom the proportion is 38.1% without a professional qualification, compared to 12.7% for people without a migration background. Solutions must now be found to increase the opportunities in the education system for all young people.

Current developments and measures

The specialist monitoring of the BMAS analyzes the flows on the labor market and forecasts skilled workers in various professional groups until 2028. It becomes clear that demographic change and challenges such as digitization and the Ukraine conflict have a direct impact on the availability of qualified workers.

The medium -term forecasts make it clear that the number of earnings will continue to decrease and immigration and the increase in employment will hardly be sufficient to compensate for this. Therefore, not only an improvement in professional orientation in schools is necessary, but also adjustments in the education system to meet the requirements of the labor market. An inclusive educational policy is essential to promote the integration of all young people.

The thanks deserve the educational institutions and teachers who work every day to accompany students: to accompany the inside on their way to their professional life and help to discover the variety of career opportunities. Because one thing is certain: the future of the domestic economy depends crucially on the qualification and motivation of the next generation.
