The companies Nehlsen and the Dettmer Group have big plans: They want to build a state-of-the-art waste recycling system at the Bremen industrial ports, which is to run under the name "Rohstoffwerk Weser". This innovative institution, which is to go into operation in the current year, will be devoted to the sorting of industrial and commercial waste in order to gain sustainable fuels.

The raw material work Weser, which is built on Kap-Horn-Straße, is strategically located and easy to reach by ship, train and truck. After taking over the property in 2022, Nehlsen started planning. With an average double-digit million sum and support from EU funding, the construction of the system is now being promoted.

The aim of the system is particularly noteworthy: around 350,000 tons of sustainable raw materials are to be recovered annually, in particular non -recyclable plastics, which are currently often unused. The EU reports that almost 40% of its waste does not find a second use. In the new system, advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, band scales, near infrared cameras, moisture sensors and X -ray analysis devices are to be used to extract metal, wood and plastics from the trash efficiently.

What remains is prepared in the form of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF). This new type of fuel is produced in four different qualities to meet the requirements of energy-intensive industries such as cement, lime, steel and glass factories. The environmentally friendly conversion of garbage into energy is particularly important because a ton SRF can replace between 450 and 800 kilograms of coke coal. This leads to significant CO2 savings of over one ton per ton of SRF.
