In the night of Friday, May 30, 2025, a spectacular accident occurred on Landesstraße 111, more precisely in the curve "Cape Horn". At around 0:55 a.m. a pickup came off the road and rammed both a power distributor and a Telekom distribution box. As Kreiszeitung Wochenblatt reported, the driver of the vehicle was unharmed and was able to free himself independently. He stated that he was alone in the vehicle.
The fire brigades from Balje, Balje Horne, Freiburg and Wischhafen were alerted immediately. These ensured the illumination of the accident site and regulated traffic.
