Euphoric celebrations: 70 Years of Petitioners' Association in Gmünd!
Schwäbisch Gmünd, Deutschland - A solemn anniversary has fulfilled Schwäbisch Gmünd in the past few days. The 1955 Value Association (AGV 1955) celebrated its 70th anniversary with a colorful program that brought together neighbors, friends and former members. The celebrations began on Thursday evening with a moving service and a welcome evening in which the mood was euphoric, as the chairman Thomas Schwendele describes. "It is a significant commitment to the community and tradition," he emphasizes.
On Saturday the big spectacle started with a colorful move, which pulled his rounds through the city at 8 a.m. Numerous well -wishers gathered on Kornhausstraße and the market square to support the participants. A second move followed at 11 a.m., which moved from the fugerei to the tournament ditch. Despite smaller breakdowns, such as the premature giving up of the AGV-Ziltle after the first round, the event radiated a happy atmosphere. The participants were happy about warm encounters with relatives and friends as well as the lively audience participation, which made the event unforgettable.
celebrations and past
The Value Association has a long tradition in Schwäbisch Gmünd, which began in 1985 when the association was launched in the “Weißer Ochsen” inn. At that time, the first board members Klaus Kucher and Wolfgang Meier laid the foundation for a community that is still characterized by friendship and cohesion. "Community, conviviality and cohesion are the focus of our activities," continued Schwendele.
The first highlights was the "30s festival", in which a tug of war took place between birth months. Since then, the association has drawn attention to numerous events, including regulars' tables, Christmas parties and excursions. Some particularly beautiful memories are the visits to the cylinder factory in Achern and trips to Paris and Rome. In 2019, the members experienced an exciting kayak tour on the Danube, followed by a trip to Nuremberg in 2023.
traditions and customs
The tradition of the peers in Schwäbisch Gmünd even goes back to 1863. Every year the age groups 40, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s are present on the large annual parade. Men in frack and cylinder, women in festive robes - the moves through the medieval roads are a sea of colors that are very popular in the city. The highlight of each move is the singing of "Grüß di Gott, Alois" on the market square in front of the Johannisturm, followed by a festive act.
There was a special note for the current celebrations: Brigitte Atkins traveled from Toronto to celebrate the anniversary together. Doro Egenrieder also took part in the move for the first time. Before the festival will pass into the next few days, the deceased members were also commemorated on Friday in the cemetery of the Täferroter, which shows the deep connection within the community.
The 70s anniversary festival of the 1955 Value Association will end with a traditional blue drive in the coming week-another occasion to celebrate the community and to let the meetings in the city of Schwäbisch Gmünd live up. This special occasion is remembered in several ways.
