Raiffeisen-Regionalbank Gänserndorf: Strong through cooperation!
Gänserndorf, Österreich - On June 2, 2025, the General Assembly of the Raiffeisen-Regionalbank Gänserndorf took place, in which numerous delegates and supporters of the cooperative were warmly welcomed. The chairman Martin Minkowitsch emphasized the decisive role of cooperation with local actors in order to strengthen the region sustainably. In the past few months, a comprehensive process has been initiated to determine the needs of the population and companies. Two main topics were quickly identified, which are of the highest importance for the region: medical care and the hotel area, gastronomy and gentle tourism.
With an active integration process, the bank wants to work specifically on these challenges. The figures speak for themselves: the regional bank's operating result amounts to an impressive 21.8 million euros, while the result of the ordinary business activity is 13.2 million euros. The bank was able to increase the annual surplus to EUR 10.4 million, which shows that despite economic and geopolitical uncertainties, it took courageous opportunities in 2024. This has already been described by Managing Director Johannes Jaindl and Günther Harold as the most successful year of the bank.
cooperative meaning and resilience
Josef Pröll, the chairman of the Raiffeisen Revision Association of Lower Austria, in his contribution, the immense importance of cooperatives for economic development in Austria outwards. Cooperatives not only secure around 93,000 jobs, but also deliver around 3.7 billion euros in taxes and taxes annually, which underlines their relevance for the overall economy. By the way, the resilience of cooperatives compared to crises is repeatedly emphasized because they act as a valuable element in the Austrian economic system.
During the meeting, elections for the board and the supervisory board were also carried out. A remarkable step was the election of Franziska Kohlhofer as a new member of the board, while Karin Cap and Walter Denk were honored for their 35th anniversary. Markus Huttar was also adopted with warm words for his many years of commitment on the board. Another highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a new image film that shows the Raiffeisen-Regionalbank Gänserndorf in a new light.
cooperatives in an international context
Cooperatives are also very popular at the international level. As part of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, the DGRV offers a special logo kit that can be used by members for their own purposes. This shows how dynamically the cooperative movement develops worldwide. In the first half of the year, an increase of almost 57 percent was recorded in new foundations, with energy cooperatives in particular increasing. These actively get involved in the energy transition and integrate broad sections of the population into innovative, sustainable approaches such as local heating networks and bioenergy villages.
The success of the cooperatives and their relevance as an employer, with over a million employees in Germany alone, are unmistakable. In view of the shortage of skilled workers, they react with increased digitization and new work concepts, which also offer young generations an attractive work environment. The challenges of the overall economic situation can be felt in the industry, and yet optimism is preserved. As DZ Bank states in a current press release, the cooperative is not to be recognized as a future -oriented model, and the Gänserndorf region also seems to be well positioned here.
The Raiffeisen-Regionalbank Gänserndorf sets an important step into the future with its initiatives, the strengthening of the region and the provision of solutions are in the foreground. Here it becomes clear that the cooperative idea remains a strong foundation for economic and social development.
