Spring festival in German-Wagram: 4,500 euros collected for David's family!
In German-Wagram, an impressive spring festival recently took place, which not only served the entertainment, but also a good cause. Organized by Wolfgang Süss, a committed city council of the ÖVP, the event attracted hundreds of visitors to the press house under bright sunshine and occasional rain showers. The festival that many will remember for a long time had the goal of helping David and his family.
The culinary offer left nothing to be desired. From sausages to cheese rainers to suckling pig - there was something for every palate. Voluntary helpers, including the family of Wolfgang Süss, Mayor Markus Mentl-Weigl and City Councilor Bernhard Grubmüller, not only distinguished themselves for the preparation of the dishes, but also ensured drinks and free beer. Thanks to the great support and the great commitment of the many helpers, a net proceeds of 3,400 euros were achieved, which was rounded up to a total of 4,500 euros by additional donations.
emotional handover to the family
The emotional highlight of the event was the personal handover of the money to David's family in the restaurant at the time. Mayor Mentl-Weigl took this as an opportunity to emphasize the great solidarity of the community in German-Wagram. "The festival shows how strongly we can hold together when it comes to helping others," he said.
creative engagement in the school community
Students of the 9D of the Webergymnasium in Germany have been similarly committed. After two years of pandemebed -like break, they organized their own festival for the school community. The class representatives Leana and Jule motivated their classmates and the teachers to participate, so that a colorful program was set up within a few days.
The festival in the school yard and in the sports hall came up with rich food and drink. The students provided a musical introduction, while sales stands, children's activities and pony rides were responsible for the entertainment of the younger ones. Here, too, it was not only celebrated: the proceeds of the festival were completely donated to the Ukraine help, which underlined the sad occasion of the festival, since many students from Ukraine came to school. Class teacher Jörn Brunken emphasized the importance of the community and the cohesion in these difficult times in his opening speech.
Both events impressively show how community and helpfulness can combine happiness and support in difficult times. Whether in Deutsch-Wagram or in the school community of the Webergymnasium-the willingness to help and to do good is very popular everywhere.
