The Day of Biodiversity stands at the corner and invites all natural enthusiasts to discover domestic flora and fauna. On 13. and June 14, 2025 this important event already finds the 20. Times in the picturesque Baden in the Biosphere Park Wienerwald . Here it means: go on a journey of discovery!

from birds to insects to mushrooms and lichens - via 100 experts from various specialist areas will be represented this weekend. Your goal? In 24 hours to discover as many plant, animal and mushroom types in Baden as possible. The data collected not only serve research, but also the important nature conservation work. Wiener district sheet emphasizes that a variety of consciousness is a central concern for nature.

Supplements and family festival

The supporting program is diverse and offers something for everyone. In the evening of 13. June 2025 Interested visitors can experience nachtable living things such as bats and moths up close at free night tours with the experts. These special events are suitable for adults and children from about 9 years .

the following afternoon, the 14. June , the Kurpark Baden turns into a lively festival of biodiversity. There are excursions into the fascinating nature, an extensive family program with handicrafts and a funny puzzle rally that will inspire particularly young explorers. In addition, information and tips from partner organizations are provided with biodiversity. The highlight of the festival will be the concert of the band drums on Earth . And the best? Entry is free for all visitors! Biosphere Park Wienerwald invites all participants to celebrate with us.

The history of the diversity of biodiversity goes back to the year 1999 when the magazine Geo launched the initiative. In the meantime, this event has developed into the largest field research campaign in Central Europe, with over 25,000 nature enthusiasts who took part in 2011. The concern is clear: to put the diversity of nature into the consciousness of people - and that for both experts and interested laypersons.

children and adults can look forward to a varied program that also includes culinary delights from the Wienerwald Biosphere Park. In addition, the results of the day are scientifically prepared and finally published in book form.
