Ten years Hilde-Umdasch-Haus: A place of life in Amstetten!

Amstetten, Österreich - On Thursday, the Hilde-Umdasch-Haus in Amstetten. This facility for children with children with life -shortening diagnoses has been tirelessly committed to improving the quality of life of their little residents since its opening in 2015. The celebrations were accompanied by Archbishop Pedro López Quintana, Archabar Korbinian Birnbacher and Pastor Peter Bösendorfer with a special anniversary festival.

The Hilde-Umdasch-Haus, which was donated by the Commercial Councilor Hilde Umdasch, offers a holistic care concept in a family, residential environment. The managing director Olivier Loudon and Grand Prior Fra ’Gottfried Kühnelt-Leddihn not only thanked Hilde Umdasch, but also among the committed employees who do their best every day.

Normality is very important in the Hilde-Umdasch-Haus, also for the children and adolescents who are difficult to care for. The central message of this facility is to create a living environment that meets human needs for belonging and closeness. Nine long-term and two short-term care places are currently available, with each child having their own adapted room with necessary medical equipment.

The generously created common rooms and the well -equipped kitchen help to ensure that the house is perceived not only as a care facility, but also as a home. The entrance area, designed with plants and natural materials, and the inner garden with raised beds and a fountain create an inviting atmosphere. There is also a denomination -free prayer room and a farewell garden that commemorates the deceased children with herbs and memory ornaments.

A high quality of care and care is guaranteed by the close cooperation between nursing staff and educators. This individual support can respect the specific needs and wishes of the children. In the Hilde-Umdasch-Haus there is a team that is committed to the principles of normalization, participation and empowerment. An important offer is the possibility of a voluntary social year that encourages young people to actively contribute.

Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister sent her congratulations via video message and paid tribute to the important work in the Hilde-Umdasch-Haus. Mayor Christian Haberhauer also invited to participate in the Hilde-Umdasch run on September 28th to support the valuable work of the facility.

Another important aspect of care in the Hilde-Umdasch-Haus is the garden, which not only serves to relax, but also offers creative play opportunities, such as a playground with a floor level trampoline for movement-impaired children. Such institutions underline the commitment of the Malteser Kinderhilfe , which operates the facility together with the sovereign Maltese-Ritter-Order.
