New home for young people: aspHALT” opens in Wolfsberg!
The mobile youth work “aspHALT” recently moved into a new home in Wolfsberg, which now serves as a central contact point for young people in the region. The new meeting point at Freidlgasse 12 impresses with a spacious area of around 90 square meters, which was designed together with the young people on site. The institution, which has been active for 17 years, is sending a strong signal for the participation of young people in Wolfsberg. They were not only involved in the planning, but also in assembling the furniture and painting the room, so that the new space is completely tailored to their needs. Small newspaper reports that the space is both functional and attractively designed.
Mobile youth work is aimed at young people aged 12 and over and offers a wide range of free, anonymous and confidential offers. Access to support and advice is completely voluntary. “aspHALT” is active exactly where young people are – be it on the street, in parks or in the newly opened youth room. Social workers are available to help young people with concerns, problems and crisis situations. The offer also includes support with official procedures, discussions to clarify concerns and the provision of information on important topics.
Diverse offers and leisure activities
The basic services that the contact point offers are also helpful. The young people can use the kitchen, shower and washing machine. Every week, BILLA-SÜD also provides free food that the young people can pick up. This not only strengthens the community, but also ensures that the young people are well looked after. Asphalt also offers various leisure activities, projects and excursions that are adapted to the respective seasons.
Numerous young people and representatives from the municipality of Wolfsberg were present at the opening of the new location. Mayor Alexander Radl (SPÖ), Deputy Mayor Jürgen Jöbstl (SPÖ), City Councilor Josef Steinkellner (ÖVP) and City Councilor Hannes Hubel (ÖVP) were pleased with the successful implementation of this project. Such an institution makes an important contribution to the social integration and support of young people in Wolfsberg - a step that is urgently needed in order to make the concerns of the young generation heard and to offer them a point of contact.
