Leoben swimmer shine in Wolfsberg: medal rain at the memorial!
The swimming section of the Leoben sports association caused a sensation at the 13th International Walter Memorial in the Wolfsberg stadium bath. Over 200 swimmers from 13 clubs, including from Slovenia, competed against each other. The Leobener were not only numerous this weekend, but also achieved impressive successes and ended up in fourth place in the medal mirror, such as reported.
A special highlight was the "Australian Finale", in which Lilli Paier dusted gold. Her teammates Eric Li and Hana Schluer were also able to secure a place on the podium and each won bronze. The championship was not only an exciting competition event, but also an important test run for the upcoming 80th Austrian State and Junior Championships, which will take place in the same bath at the end of July.
Leoben's swimming star shines
The performance of the Leoben swimmers were simply impressive. Lilli Paier turned out to be the most successful athlete and won no less than five gold medals in the disciplines 50m breast, 100m freestyle, 100m breast, 50m butterfly and in the Australian finale. She also secured a silver medal over 50m freestyle.
Eric Li was also happy to receive a rich medal yield and won four gold medals (50m freestyle, 50m breast, 100m breast, 50m butterfly), as well as a silver over 100m freestyle and a bronze medal in the Australian final. Hana Schlur was also successful, scored three gold (50m chest, 200m freestyle, 100m breast) and a silver medal (50m freestyle) and a bronze in the Australian finale.
But that wasn't all. The other swimmers of the SV Leoben also shone:
- Sara Schlauer won gold (50m freestyle), silver (50m back) and bronze (50m butterfly).
- Elena Gaugl achieved silver (100m breast) and two bronze medals (50m breast, 50m butterfly).
- Mateja Biro secured silver (100m butterfly) and bronze (50m butterfly).
- junxuan li won silver (50m breast) and bronze (50m freestyle).
- Mason Moder was able to look forward to silver over 100m butterfly.
- Collien Hofstadler won bronze over 50m butterfly and was fifth in the Australian final.
- Neila Mlivo secured bronze over 50m back.
- The mixed 4x50m freestyle relay with Lilli Paier, Mateja Biro, Sara Schlauer and Eric Li won the bronze medal.

In addition, Illary Lucia Chavez Sullca and Irina Biro managed to achieve strong top 10 places. The competition was high for around 200 participants from 13 clubs, but SV Leoben showed that they had a good knack in the water.
The club looks optimistic about the upcoming summer season highlights and hopes to continue the excellent performance in the upcoming championships. Promising talents and experienced swimmers form a strong basis for the future, and the upcoming state championships will surely be the next big goal that the team has worked towards. Together they strive to achieve high medal placements at the national level, as numerous Austrian swimmers have already proven in the past.
The event in Wolfsberg was not just a competition, but a festival for swimming and a great way to promote the region's talents. The SV Leoben can now look forward to the next challenges, and the fans will certainly do everything possible to heat their swimmers!
