Eberndorf Summer Games: Record donations for people in need!

The Summer Games in Eberndorf not only offer cultural highlights, but also set impressive social accents. This year, the piece “Paying is not” by Dario Fo and Franca Rame was performed, which captivated visitors. With a total of 3,417 guests, the event can look back on a record number of visitors. The fundraising campaign, which was carried out in collaboration with the Spar supermarket Eberndorf and its branch manager Jessica Paulitsch, was also extremely successful. Four shopping carts full of food and hygiene items as well as a sum of money of 2,500 euros were collected, which were handed over to Tafel coordinator Regine Hus and GSD management Völkermarkt Hildegard Kraßnik on August 9th. The chairwoman Simone Jäger and the director Florian Kutej were proud of the support for needy people in the region, which they see as a fundamental responsibility and necessity.

The importance of culture and solidarity

“Is this art or can it go away?” – This question, which is often asked in the art world, could also accompany the Eberndorf Summer Games. Dario Fo, whose 1974 play addressed civil disobedience, reflects the challenges facing the cultural sector in Austria. Rising prices and living costs not only put cultural pioneers to the test, but also show how quickly cultural budgets and funding can be cut. In the interests of the community, the Eberndorf Summer Games have known how to act as a local cultural provider for almost 50 years and thus contribute to stability in the region.

The collaboration with the Österreichische Tafel in Völkermarkt illustrates the important role that culture plays in the social structure. The Wirth Foundation aims to make it easier for everyone to access art and culture and to strengthen social responsibility. Your support for projects in the areas of workshops, exhibitions, theater and music is essential to promote social cohesion through cultural activities.

Looking into the future

As the organizers of the Summer Games announced, some surprises are already planned for next year, the 50th anniversary of the Summer Games. Viewers are invited to actively support the development of culture in their region and become part of these special events. The call for solidarity in these uncertain times is clear: Together we should advocate for a sustainable cultural scene and actively engage with its social environment.
