A serious forestry accident caused a stir in the Völkermarkt district on Friday afternoon, October 2nd, 2025. An 86-year-old pensioner was hit by a tractor during logging work while he was loading cut wood into the loading box of his vehicle. The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. when the tractor started moving for unknown reasons and knocked the man to the ground. The 68-year-old man who witnessed the accident acted quickly and immediately alerted the emergency services. Shortly afterwards, the injured person received emergency medical care and was flown to the Klagenfurt accident hospital in the C11 rescue helicopter. The rescue of the trapped man from the forest was carried out by the St. Peter am Wallersberg fire department in collaboration with the rescue workers and the police MyDistrict reported.
