JJ enjoys fame and fillet skewer at Lake Faaker See – fans are beside themselves!

There's something going on at Lake Faaker See! The Austrian Eurovision winner JJ, alias Johannes Pietsch, recently caused a stir in Carinthia. On August 10, 2025, the 24-year-old, who won the hearts of 166 million viewers at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) with his hit “Wasted Love” on May 17, 2025, visited the traditional restaurant “Der Tschebull” in Villach. Together with seven friends, he treated himself to a well-deserved break and enjoyed a fillet skewer and Mediterranean vegetables, reports 5min.at.

The landlord Hannes Tschemernjak, who has run the restaurant as a family for around 160 years, described JJ as the “culinary fixture” of the inn. “He obviously enjoyed the visit,” said the host, who took a selfie with the star and shared it on Instagram. What is particularly noteworthy is that JJ has been a regular guest at Tschebull for three years and was able to enjoy himself undisturbed until recently. This year, however, his fame meant that he was asked several times for autographs and selfies, which he clearly enjoyed.

The ESC and the Austria connection

At this year's Eurovision Song Contest, JJ not only impressed the audience, but also the juries in Europe. While the Austrian expert jury awarded the highest score to Finland, JJ scored a total of 436 points with 258 points from the national juries and 178 points from the audience. He thus successfully prevailed against the competition. It is also noteworthy that the voting is decided jointly by both viewers and an expert jury, which makes the competition all the more exciting. More detailed details on the awarding of points were published by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and the audience in Austria awarded their points to Germany and Italy, among others Pulse24 reported.

JJ has clear ideas for the future of the ESC: The talented musician would like the next competition to take place in Vienna in 2026 because his friend lives there. A decision on the venue, either Vienna or Innsbruck, is expected to be made on August 20, 2025. This means it remains exciting for all fans of the ESC in Austria.

Overall, it can be said that JJ not only travels a lot musically, but also remains in the hearts of Carinthians. His visit to Tschebull shows that even big stars can find their place at home and appreciate the enjoyment of traditional Austrian cuisine. Whether over a good meal or on the big stage, JJ has clearly proven that he has a real connection to his homeland, which makes his fame all the more personal, confirmed Mercury.
