Eurofighter via Villach: Loud roar causes a stir!

A loud roar shaked the Villach area in Carinthia shortly before noon. The noise comes from a Eurofighter that flew over the region for training purposes. This exercise was confirmed by Christoph Hofmeister, the press officer of the Military Command Carinthia. Such noises are not unusual, especially since there are several tuning events in Klagenfurt and at the Faaker See, such as the XS Carnight and "Gepfeffert.com", which also ensure acoustic challenges.

The Eurofighter fly during their exercise missions at speeds of over 1,200 km/h and break through the sound barrier. This phenomenon ensures the characteristic loud bang that arises when aircraft are faster than sound waves. Training flights also take place in the rest of Austria between April 7 and April 18, but are not carried out in Tyrol and Vorarlberg. Overalls are planned on each of these days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This explains a report by the Kronen Zeitung .

planned measures and security

The defense minister Klaudia Tanner emphasized how indispensable these training flights are for the air forces. In view of security policy developments, it is important to continuously practice and expand air sovereignty. In order to minimize the noise impairment for the population, certain measures are taken: this includes short acceleration phases and an even sound load, so that the jets fly at a distance of 12.5 kilometers above the floor.

The Air Force also adheres to strict regulations, the overs sound flights in busy areas and during the lunch rest, i.e. between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., as well as on weekends and public holidays. All information on the practice flights and noise reduction can be found on the pages of the Bundesheeres .

So it remains to be hoped that the roar about Carinthia will soon calm down again and that the residents can look forward to quieter afternoons in the coming time. After all, the training of the air forces is necessary, even if it can sometimes get a little loud.
