Truck accident in Latschach: 54-year-old injured, helicopter in action!
On September 24, 2025, a dramatic industrial accident occurred in the Villach-Land district, which fortunately had a mild outcome. A 54-year-old man had parked his truck loaded with gravel at a gravel pit in Latschach to unload the load. But while reversing, the truck slipped over the edge of the gravel depression and fell backwards into the pit.
The brave driver was able to escape from the vehicle at the last second, but suffered an injury to his foot. A colleague who was nearby immediately came to his aid, provided initial support and quickly called the emergency number. The emergency services, including police, rescue and the Latschach volunteer fire department, were quickly activated to ensure adequate care.
Rescue operation and transport
After initial treatment on site, the injured person was flown to Klagenfurt Hospital in the RK1 rescue helicopter. He will now receive medical treatment there and hopefully be back on his feet soon. However, recovering the truck was uncomplicated: the vehicle was able to be taken out of the trough under its own power, which prevented further problems.
Thanks to the quick action of colleagues and emergency services, the incident ended without any serious consequences for the driver. This shows once again how important quick action and teamwork are in everyday work. Such accidents call for caution, especially when heavy machinery and building materials are involved.
