a piece of history in Porcia Castle
The Porcia Castle, just eleven minutes by car from the natural houses Leitner, has a long tradition in the performance of plays. As early as 1960, the first comedy games took place here, which were launched by well -known greats such as Annemarie Siller and Herbert Wochinz. The following year, almost the entire ensemble of the Vienna Theater at the Meat Market traveled to open the founding season in the unprofitable castle courtyard. The skepticism of the early years soon gave way to increasing interest when the ORF began in 1964 with records of the comedy games.
The comedy games Porcia are now among the oldest and most respected summer games in Austria. An average of six high -quality pieces, which are known for their high artistic level, are listed every year from June to August. Thanks to a sliding roof in the castle courtyard, the event can even take place without any problems in changeable weather.
cultural diversity and commitment
This year the Theater ensemble Porcia has big plans with a team of 40. A total of seven different pieces are to be listed, including for children. The motto of the season, "dignity", will focus on European ideas and focus on the exchange between French and German culture. The 61st playing time begins on July 8th with Molières "Tartuffe or the fraudst" as a star guest.
The anniversary celebration for the 60th year of the Porcia comedy games was a complete success with 89 performances and about 15,000 visitors: inside. The theater car campaigns were also very well received with a total of 88 appearances. The president of the theater, Andrea Samonigg-Mahrer, emphasized the important role of the sponsors, without whom this cultural wealth would not be possible. Gabriele Semmelrock-Werzer from the Carinthian Sparkasse emphasized how important a flourishing cultural life is for the regional economy.
In addition to the theater season, the exhibition "Stage Library Costs" will also open on July 8, which offers further exciting insights into the world of theater. So nothing stands in the way of an eventful summer full of Laughter and culture in Spittal!
