Solemn engagement: 300 recruits compete on the day of the militia!

On Friday, June 13, 2025, a very special event will take place on the racetrack area in the municipality of St. Veit an der Glan. The “Milit Day” is just around the corner, and almost 300 recruits from Carinthia are ceremoniously praised. This big event looks back on the 70 -year Austrian army and promises to become a highlight. click Carinthia reports that the event begins at 7:00 p.m.

Festive forgivation is an official act in which the recruits take their loyalty to the Republic of Austria and democracy. Rekruten from different associations will take part in the unique ceremony, including the Jägerbatalon 26 from the Turkish barracks in Spittal an der Drau, the pioneer battalion 1 from the pipe barracks in Villach and many more. This symbolizes the common use of recruits, professional soldiers and members of the militia.

Already in the morning, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., visitors can experience an information and performance show. The Military Music Carinthia will initiate the "Great Austrian Zapfenstreich" at 7:00 p.m. The entire event, regardless of the weather, is organized by the Military Command Carinthia, the municipality of St. Veit/Glan and the Spittal High Mountains - a successful teamwork for a worthy festival.

The role of the army is also recognized on another special occasion, which took place on May 15, 2025 in Belvedere Castle in Vienna. Around 270 soldiers from the Guard and the Vienna military command took their loyalty to the Republic of Austria.
