Big festive day in Carinthia: Folk culture and costume combined in Maria Saal!

In around two weeks, the time has come: On Sunday, June 15th, the ninth "Day of Carinthian Folk Culture" will take place from 9.30 a.m. in the Maria Saal open -air museum. This special event will be celebrated for the first time this year with the "Day of Tracht" to celebrate the variety of Carinthian costumes. The cooperation takes place under the organization of the ARGE folk culture and department 14 - art and culture. A colorful program is offered that addresses both tradition and the future of folk culture.

The day begins with a festival fair in the cathedral of Maria Saal, followed by a festive train to the open -air museum. The ceremony opens at 11 a.m., which is designed by the Gendarmerie and police friends Carinthia. After a morning pint concert with the talented Sonja small service, it is also high in the afternoon: choral singing, dance and music from numerous folk cultural groups provide the best entertainment.

This year's focus is on the topic "Child, Youth and Social Affairs in Folk Culture". The organizers want to highlight the importance of traditions and the promotion of young people in folk culture. Carinthia can look back on an impressive variety of around 2,000 clubs that actively work for the preservation of customs and cultural heritage. The costume plays an important role that should not only be recognized, but also kept alive.

The Carinthian costumes that go back to the Biedermeier period are more than just clothing - they are part of the cultural heritage and are worn on various occasions, such as weddings or village festivals. The traditional costumes are diverse and range from simple work dirndls to elaborately tailored feasts, which are made of high -quality materials. A look at the folk culture of Carinthia shows how much these traditions are rooted in everyday life and in fixed.
