Flame inferno in garbage can: Fire brigade saves all residents!
In the early morning hours of August 13, 2025, a fire broke out in a residential complex, the origin of which was presumably located in the area of a residual waste bin. As Klick Kärnten reports, the affected garbage can was located in a metal shed in the freely accessible outdoor area of the property, southeast of the main building. The high degree of destruction has made it difficult to determine the exact cause of the fire.
The fire, which broke out quickly, was brought under control by a total of six fire departments with 97 personnel. Gas bottles were also cooled and transported outside. Fortunately, everyone who was in the building was able to be evacuated uninjured. Another fire brigade train, which is on duty around the clock, was able to prevent something worse from happening and thus provided efficient help.
After the fire
But after putting out a fire, the real work of the police begins. In every case of fire, the criminal police, in this case the Warendorf police, are called in. This specialized unit has trained officers and an upgraded vehicle to collect evidence and determine the cause of fires. Fire experts and fire detection dogs are often used when it comes to clarifying the causes of fires that are difficult to understand or suspicious, as NRW Police explains.
Some important safety measures to keep in mind when dealing with fire include, but are not limited to, avoiding throwing cigarettes out of the car or on the ground and properly cooling hot ashes before disposing of them. In emergencies, those affected should immediately call 112 and provide important information about the danger situation.
Fire statistics
According to the latest data, incidents involving burning garbage bins, vehicles, homes and gardens are common during fire events. These causes of fire illustrate the need for preventive measures and good behavior when dealing with fire, as shown by the [IFS](https://www.ifs-ev.org/ Schadenverhuetung/ursachenaktien/ursachenstatistics-brandschaeden-2024/). Prevention and education could help to significantly reduce the risk of fires in residential complexes and other areas.
