Listening redefined: Mahler forum sets impulses for political debate!
Künstlerhaus Klagenfurt, Goethepark 1, 9020 Klagenfurt, Österreich - On June 9, 2025, exciting days are imminent in Klagenfurt. On the occasion of the mahler forums , which takes place on June 13th and 14th, the motto "The Sound of Listening-Listening as a political force" will be brought into focus. The aim of the event is to promote a culture of active listening and thus create a positive impact on political debates, as My-freizeit.net . Listening is understood as an active practice of empathy and participation.
The event runs in the Klagenfurt Künstlerhaus and begins on Friday, June 13th, from 6 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Saturday, June 14th, has another exciting period of time, namely from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Gustav-Mahler composing house in Maiernigg. An exciting program awaits visitors: a musical course with the premiere of a composition by Tinkara Zupan, the ensemble of the Alma Mahler Music Association under the direction of Alja Klemenc, as well as dialogues such as "Pingpong and Stille" with Iris Dankemeyer and Martin Mettin.
artistic highlights and registration
Another highlight of the forum is a circle singing with Ivan Beaufils and an artistic intervention by Toni Schmale, which will also exhibit his sculpture "narrow bottle" as part of the forum, which will be shown from June 14 to October 31, 2025. Interested parties should definitely register because admission is free, but a registration at info@mahler-forum.org is required. Please also note that photo and film recordings are taken during the event.
The dialogue about the art of listening is not just a central topic of the event. In an upcoming debate between Winfried Kretschmann, the Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg, and media scientist Bernhard Pörksen, listening and the ability to dialogue at eye level are also discussed. The reason for this is Pörksen's new book "Listening. The art to open up to the world", which gives many food for thought, such as "https://dai-heidelberg.de/de/veranstaltungen/winfried-kretschmann-bernhard-poerksen-66659/"> dai-heidelberg.de
political debates in change
Kretschmann has made a name for himself through his political career and, above all, his “policy of being heard”. This policy emphasizes the need to involve the votes of citizens in large projects in order to promote changes in communication and society. The challenges of today, such as climate change and digitization, require greater willingness to listen and understand.
With the Mahler Forum and the subsequent debate it becomes clear: Listening is not just a passive activity, but a decisive element for constructive political discussions and the design of our common future.
