Schoolchildren in Bergheim: warm encounters with seniors!

In an inspiring project, the students of the third grade at the Bergheim technical school in Feldkirchen recently organized an afternoon for seniors. Under the motto "Jugend meets seniors", a varied program was set up, which met with great enthusiasm among the participants. The event not only included delicious coffee and cake, but also movement, games, memory training as well as singing together and lively discussions. This reports Tips.

The positive effects of such meetings are not only in joy that both generations feel, but also in the relationships that arise here. Mr. M. (91 years) is enthusiastic about the young people: "These are intelligent children. We have a great youth!" These interactions promote understanding and respect for each other and open up new perspectives for young people. "The stories of the seniors are incredibly interesting," says Natalie (14 years), "they give insights into a completely different time." Here it becomes visible how important such encounters are to bring the young people closer to the challenges of the previous ways of life, such as Diakoneo.

valuable learning experiences

Through direct contact with older people, the children not only learn social skills, but also humanity. This generation bridge helps to reduce fear of contact. The children discover the life of the elderly and ask many questions: "How was it back then? What was the best thing about your childhood?" This promotes not only the knowledge of the younger ones, but also communication among the generations.

An aspect that is often overlooked: the seniors also benefit from these meetings. Bodo Steinheimer emphasizes that the seniors not only keep moving through the activities, but are also enriched emotionally. Such movement and game offers promote health and joie de vivre in old age. Sparkasse Roth supports this project with a donation of 1,000 euros to enable further training for specialists in kindergarten and retirement home. Because only well-trained supervisors can ensure that these valuable encounters can also be designed sustainably, it is pointed out that the training according to the method of the "Generation Bridge Germany" is mandatory Generation Bridge.

sustainable changes and outlook

The concept of the generation bridge has proven itself and shows promising approaches to strengthen interpersonal relationships. The basis is five cornerstones that have to be carried out regularly and structured: age -appropriate preparation of the children, regular visits over a longer period of time, fixed partnerships between the children and seniors, active cooperation and ritualized meetings that offer security for both generations.

In view of the great interest, there is a desire for further expansion of the project. That is why professional training of new specialists is necessary. The solid support from institutions such as the Sparkasse Roth contributes significantly to the implementation of these plans. In this way, the bridge between the generations is still strengthened and the common cooperation is promoted.
