Church music summer in Ossiach: Mozart, choirs and festive concerts!
Ossiach, Österreich - The organ association Ossiach, under the direction of chairman Alois Gaggl, again invites you to a varied church music summer in the picturesque collegiate church. In the coming weeks there are numerous cultural events on the program that will inspire lovers of church music in particular.
The highlights include the performance of the Piccolomini trade fair by W. A. Mozart and the festival concert "Maria Mother of Hope". At this concert, the renowned Savaria Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Han Schamberger will be heard, while the soloist Christa Kinga from the Budapest State Opera enchants the audience with her voice. In addition, the “final concert of musical late summer” opens up the opportunity to adapt musically to the quiet days.
Mozart's Piccolomini trade fair in focus
A special treat for the listeners is the performance of the Missa Brevis in C major, KV 258, better known as the Piccolomini fair. This fair is characterized by its festive structure and the upscale character, which is supported by timpani and trumpets. The trade fair, which lasts about 20 minutes, includes the parts of Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus dei. The native of Salzburg Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed this work in 1775, and the solemn character is strengthened by the various orchestral instruments, including trumpets and a bass continuo. The question arises as to how exactly the nickname "Piccolomini-Mass" came about, since research creates different theories without giving a clear answer. The name "Spaur-Messe" has also been handed down historically, but the assignment is controversial, as is the wikipedia portal.
