Fire brigade youth Feldkirchen shines: Over 240 talents in action!
Ossiach, Österreich - Last weekend the fire brigade youth of the Feldkirchen district delighted with their varied competition program. The fire brigade youth competition took place in Ossiach and attracted over 240 young people from the region who measured each other in various disciplines. The event was organized by the district youth officer Fire Inspector Manuela Unegg, who received active support from the district fire brigade commander Werner Puggl and his deputy Horst Dionisio.
The competitions included single and team competitions that required teamwork, speed and skill. In the team ranking, the fire brigade youth Radweg ("Radweg 1") secured the title of the district champion, followed by the fire brigade youth Sirnitz ("Sirnitz 1") as runner -up. Maximilian Krammer from FF Patergassen achieved the district championship title in the individual competition silver, closely followed by Haylie Flath from the Radweg fire brigade, which only finished 0.3 seconds behind him.
Celebratesuccess and arouse curiosity
The successes continued in the individual competitions: In the 10- to 11-year-olds Leon Maierbrugger from the St. Martin fire brigade demonstrated his skills and became district champion in Bronze A, while his colleague Nina Rainer became runner-up. Helena Sima-Witasek and Felix Rottensteiner triumphed in bronze B (11-12 years), both from the fire brigade youth.
Another highlight of the day was the boat and exhibition trip, in which the local blue light organizations such as water rescue, red cross and police presented their equipment. Puggl emphasized the motivation and talent of the fire brigade youth and their willingness to take responsibility.
nature engagement of the fire brigade youth
But not only in competition, the young Florianis show their operational readiness. In an inspiring campaign, the fire brigade youth from Carinthia recently planted 2,000 trees in the Dobratsch Nature Park. This event was organized in cooperation with the Carinthian State Forest Directorate and served not only the afforestation, but also the sensitization for environmental and forest issues. The event started in the early morning with a program that was designed by various institutions, including the Red Cross and the police.
The district youth officer Harald Rupic reported on the successful participation of the fire brigades from Rückersdorf, Miklauzhof and Gattersdorf. These actions should indicate sustainable climate protection measures and motivate the public to act.
beewild initiative and fire brigade youth week
In addition to the competitions and tree planting campaigns, the fire brigade youth is also involved in the protection of species. As part of the Beewild initiative, which promotes biodiversity and species protection, every fire brigade member in Austria is provided with a sack seeds of flower seeds for sowing a bee pasture. These measures are part of the Fire Brigade Youth Week, which focuses on environmental protection during the Easter holidays from April 14th to 20th, 2025. This wants to inspire the young people to preserve nature and actively involve climate protection.
The events and competitions are a wonderful example of how the fire brigade youth not only performs top sporting performance, but also assumes responsibility for the community and the environment. As part of the next competitions, the district champions will compete for the national championship title on June 28th.
For the fire brigade youth in the Feldkirchen district, it continues to be committed and enthusiastic - both on the field and in nature!
