Big event weekend in Upper Carinthia: Safety day and cultural highlights!
There's a lot on offer in the region in the coming week, with various events on the program. A highlight will be the safety day on Saturday, October 11th. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., numerous attractions will be offered at the sports field in Dellach im Gailtal under the motto “Excitement – Drama – Participate – Win”. Visitors can look forward to spectacular demonstration exercises, including a police helicopter and a mountain bike show from AUVA. The armed forces will also be represented at an information show, while the ÖAMTC is organizing a bicycle course. First aid demonstrations round off the offering, so there is something for everyone to experience safety in a playful way. As the Kleine Zeitung reports, the organizers are expecting a large crowd.
But that's not all the region has to offer. The “Windische Evening” will take place on Thursday, October 9th at 6 p.m. in the Gailtalmuseum in Möderndorf Castle in Hermagor. Slovenian poems and songs by Volker Pawliska are presented here, with the focus being on the Gailtaler Windisch dialect - one of the oldest Slovenian dialects. The Gailtalmuseum, which is known for its interesting exhibitions and is supplemented by an informative audio guide, remains a worthwhile destination for culture enthusiasts despite minor deficiencies. However, some visitors find the musty smell in the museum café unpleasant, as do the cold temperatures and poor lighting in some areas. Nevertheless, the museum is an important starting point, as Wanderlog also notes.
Cultural highlights and musical delights
Another highlight awaits art lovers on Friday, October 10th, at 7 p.m. in the Galerie im Drauknie. The opening “Contrasts” shows works by the artist Melanie Joch, who was born in Leonberg in 1974 and now lives in Spittal. The event will be accompanied musically by “Miss red shoe & chrise blue”, i.e. Katharina Lugger and Christian Pucher. Visitors can view the exhibition on the following days, October 11th and 18th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., October 12th and 19th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and October 17th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
On the same day, October 11th, the new village square “New Pulsating Heart” in Bad Kleinkirchheim will be ceremoniously opened. The official welcome will take place at 10 a.m., followed by a presentation of the opportunities this meeting place can offer to the community. Afterwards, all locals, foreigners and guests are invited to take part in a gourmet market from 2 p.m. Musical entertainment is provided by the “Gmünd-Live” event, which starts on October 11th with live music and free admission at the Old Castle from 2 p.m. to around 6 p.m. Students from the Lieser-Maltatal music school will perform here, followed by performances by “Hanky Panky”, “Markus Wutte and Band”, “Mr. & Mrs. Curtis” and “SoundSet” at various locations from 8 p.m.
The coming week promises a lot of variety and interesting offers for all age groups. Don't miss this opportunity and take advantage of the opportunity to take part in the numerous events!
