Fewer bus lines in summer: Verkehrsbetriebe adapt timetables!
in Burgenland it will be quieter in bus traffic in summer. The Burgenland (VBB) transport companies have announced that it will reduce the regular bus network in July and August. The reason for this is understandable: schoolchildren are eliminated as passengers, which particularly affects the smaller communities with low passenger volume. The changes will come into force from July 1st, but don't worry! From September, the regular bus offer will return almost to the usual standard.
But not everything gets less. The national B lines remain unchanged and are even increasingly offered, which ensures a good connection beyond the borders of the area communities. There is also gratifying news for the users of the Burgenland call collection taxis (BAST), because their offer is substantially expanded. This is a service that ensures more mobility, especially in rural areas.
BAST offers passengers the opportunity to find out more about the changed timetables. This is particularly important to inform the users in good time about the changes. In addition, a test operation of the new bast app starts in a selected pilot district. This is to be tested under real conditions with a defined group of regular guests and test subjects.
accessibility in the focus
Another central point that the Burgenland transport companies take seriously is accessibility. This includes unrestricted mobility for everyone, including people with impairments, as well as for parents with strollers or people with a lot of luggage. The aim is to ensure safe and comfortable trips for all passengers. According to BMV , the mobility opportunities are crucial for social participation and personal development.
passengers who need support can contact the driver at any time. This helps to overcome barriers and makes traveling easier for everyone. When driving with a wheelchair or other mobility aids, however, a short registration is requested. This can be done easily by email to office@verkehrs- burgenland.at or by phone via the 24/7 hotline 0800 500 805.
Future view
From September, further adjustments in school traffic will also be planned. These are based on a research project on the mobility behavior of children and adolescents in Central and South Burgenland. This would like to meet the changing needs of the youngest and make public transport appealing to all age groups.
All in all, the signs in Burgenland are on adaptation and improvements. Now it is time to keep an eye on the new timetables and benefit from the extended offers.
