Europa-Park celebrates 50 years: A look at Germany's amusement park magic!

Rust, Deutschland - The Europa-Park in Rust, Baden-Württemberg, celebrates a very special anniversary this year: 50 years after its opening on July 12, 1975, the park developed into one of the world's strongest amusement parks. Since then, more than 150 million visitors have experienced the over 100 attractions and shows of the largest adventure park in Europe. The Mack family who runs the park has proven a healthy feeling for the wishes of their guests. Originally intended as an exhibition area for Mack Rides products, Franz Mack's park was launched with a lot of inspiration from the USA, especially Walt Disney.

The history of the park is shaped by beginnings that started 50 years ago with 250,000 visitors in the first year. The first roller coaster - the Alpenexpress "Enzian" - also lets park visitors look back nostalgically. But the creativity of the Macks continues: The popular roller coasters include the "Silver Star" (2002), the "Blue Fire Megacoaster" (2009) and the novelty "Voltron", which was opened in 2024 and is already causing a sensation. This roller coaster begins as the first of its kind with looping and together with the other rides and spectacular subject areas that represent over 15 European countries will be remembered.

new attractions and celebrations

For the anniversary year, large celebrations are also on the program. Prominent guests such as Jürgen Klopp and Mario Barth have been announced. In addition, the first large cinema film of the "Grand Prix of Europe" park will be released on July 24, 2025. On this occasion, the Europa-Park presents a new attraction: the interactive 3D Darkride "Grand Prix Edventure".

The new attraction in the historama lets visitors immerse yourself in action -charged racing atmosphere. In a gameplay theater that is peppered with modern multimedia technology, guests can take part in a six-minute journey that leads through iconic European cities. 18 dynamic gondolas also invite you to collect points - an experience that requires both skills and teamwork. This attraction will show on the occasion of the new animated film that the Macks are always at the time and constantly develop the park.

worth a visit

With around six million guests annually, many of them from Germany, France and Switzerland, the Europa-Park remains one of the first addresses in Europe for family outings. If you want to have fun there, you are spoiled for choice, whether in the park or in the current indoor water world Rulantica with over 50 water attractions. A current survey by the Themed Entertainment Association shows that the Europa-Park is one of the most sought-after amusement parks in Europe, and the number of visitors show that the park is also at the top in 2022 and 2023. Numbers that show that the Europa-Park has a good hand when it comes to family tourism.

All of this makes it clear that the Europa-Park has not only become part of the leisure culture in Germany, but also an integral part of the European experience scene. It remains exciting how the park will develop in the next few years. Have a look yourself and celebrate!
