Among the top athletes of the Vila Vita Pannonia were found René Lachmann and Maximilian Schupp, each of which secured a silver medal in the service category. In the competitions, the exams were anything but easy. The participants in the kitchen had to prepare a four -course menu within five hours, whereby aspects such as hygiene, resource conservation and of course the taste were evaluated. Skill was in demand in the service, and the participants had to master classic tablecloths as well as various freestyle tasks such as filleting and mixing cocktails. The prospective hotel and hospitality assistants also had to demonstrate their skills in a simulated guest interview and written exams. The challenges were extensive, which emphasizes the high standards in the industry that are becoming increasingly important.
training in tourism and gastronomy
A look at the training in the catering trade shows that almost every ninth apprentice works in the tourism and leisure industry. According to the Chamber of Commerce, the professions, such as cook or restaurant specialist, are among the top ten apprenticeships in Austria. The training covers a wide range that ranges from the guest contact to the preparation of dishes to the planning and organization of events. The responsibility for the well -being of the guests and the skillful implementation of the services shape the job description of the catering.
