Burgenland celebrates variety: Theodor Kery Prize for outstanding projects!

The Burgenland Foundation Theodor Kery recently awarded its renowned price, and the event moved to numerous guests to the picturesque castle Schlaining. Under the motto "Shaping the future, living responsibility", a total of 17,000 euros were awarded for nine outstanding projects and four personalities. The foundation, which has recognized extraordinary achievements in Burgenland for 49 years, once again demonstrated the importance of the diversity and the will to design in the region. As reported meinzirk.at, around 2.8 million euros have been distributed at prices since the foundation was founded.

The excellent projects extend to different areas, from ecology to cultural initiatives. The Nature Park Rosalia-Kogelberg from Mattersburg is particularly noteworthy. This was committed to the biodiversity and the preservation of species -rich cultural landscapes and was also voted “Nature Park in 2025”. The team manages 35 hectares of orchards according to sustainability standards and thus sets a strong sign for environmental protection.

Another exciting project comes from Markus Schindler, also from Mattersburg. He has developed a concept entitled "KI for Agriculture in Seewinkel", which includes forecast tools for the efficient use of water resources. Elisabeth Lexer from Güssing also caused a sensation with her novel project "Bakunin's daughter", which addresses the creation of a women's community at the border.

The list of award winners shows how diverse the approaches to design the future in Burgenland. Lukas Lehner (Mattersburg) received recognition for his study on the opinions of unemployed people on social measures. In addition, the life's work of Peter Resetarits, a journalist from Güssing, was recognized with the 2025 media award.

But that's not all: social initiatives were not neglected. Caritas Burgenland was honored for its parents' accompaniment, while the Samaritan Association of Burgenland was honored for the “Green Gard Care” project. Helmut Hödl (Eisenstadt) received the award for performing art with his project "Aller clarinet", and Herbert Brettl (Neusiedl am See) was recognized for his humanities work "The Lackenbach camp".
