Burgenland overjoyed: 95% satisfied with the energy supply!

In Burgenland there is reason to be happy: A new study shows that the Burgenlanders are very satisfied with their energy supply. The press conference for the presentation of the second energy study took place under the direction of Governor Hans Peter Doskozil, Burgenland Energie and the Institute for Strategy Analysis. A total of 1,000 citizens were interviewed, and the result is impressive: 95% of the respondents express satisfaction with their energy supply - 47% even rate them as very good.

The Burgenland has set itself ambitious goals. By 2030, the region wants to become climate -neutral and energy -independent. An important element here is the high quota of homes that increase the interest of the population in their own energy generation. According to the study, 36% of the green electricity surveyed already obtained from their own systems, and almost 60% of non-users are open to switching to renewable energy sources.

joint efforts for renewable energies

A particularly gratifying result of the study is the high level of acceptance for energy communities. About 70% of those surveyed know what such a community is, and 68% can imagine becoming part. This shows the great potential for jointly organized energy projects in Burgenland.

The Burgenlanders are also aware of the importance of municipal investments in renewable energies: 71% consider it important that the municipalities actively work for the expansion of renewable energies. Only 6% of those surveyed find investments unnecessary. In fact, 72% would like to use their community for renewable energy.

high customer satisfaction despite challenges

Customer satisfaction with energy supply has increased to remarkable 95% despite the current energy crisis. Burgenland Energie is perceived as customer -friendly, environmentally conscious, innovative and inexpensive - these are characteristics for which the region's population has a good hand. The acceptance of wind and photovoltaic systems is high: the approval values are between 70% and 90%.

In a comprehensive context of the transformation into a climate -neutral future, it is crucial that fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil are gradually replaced. The focus is on electrification in different sectors due to heat pumps and electromobility. These changes require extensive investments in energy generation and in the energy infrastructure. Difficulties and interactions between different sectors make a coordinated planning process essential. The strategic energy planning (SES), anchored in the Energy Industry Act, offers a valuable orientation - this is how a coherent transformation path is sought that actively involves the citizens in order to achieve the goals in Burgenland.

All in all, Burgenland faces exciting challenges and opportunities on the way to energy independence. It remains to be observed how the region will develop in the coming years, but people are optimistic and ready to work together on solutions.
